Bookmaker Extends Sponsorship of Betway UK Championship

Betway UK ChampionshipBetway, a leading online bookmaker, recently announced that it has agreed to a fresh three-year deal that will see it remain the sponsor of snooker`s UK Championship. This will see the Betway UK Championship continue until at least 2020.

The UK Championship is part of snooker’s Triple Crown and considered to be snooker’s biggest ranking event after the World Snooker Championship. It has been sponsored by the bookmaker for the past three years. Betway first sponsored the prestigious £850,000 event back in 2015.

This year marks the 40th year of the prestigious UK Championship. The event, which is televised and broadcasted around the world, is watched by more than 400 million fans.

Betway is involved in multiple top-level sponsorships

The UK Championship is only one of Betway’s sponsorships. Since 2015, the bookmaker has also been the principal sponsor of Premier League football club West Ham United. It is also the official betting partner of the Grand National Festival at Aintree, and the sponsor of one of the four Cheltenham Festival championship races - the Betway Queen Mother Champion Chase.

Commenting on the extended partnership with World Snooker, Betway’s CEO Anthony Werkman said that the bookmaker is delighted to be continuing its sponsorship of the event for an additional three years. He further stated:

“Continuing our sponsorship in snooker, and particularly with a top level event like the Betway UK Championship, is really important as we look to build on the strong growth we have achieved in recent years.”

World Snooker Chairman Barry Hearn also commented on the renewed deal and expressed delight with the opportunity to work with Betway “for many years to come.” Hearn added with the whole world watching the event, “The exposure for Betway’s brand both in the UK and overseas is exceptional.”

The 2017 Betway UK Championship runs form the 28th of November to the 10th of December, with York Barbican serving as the venue for the tournament. The winner will be awarded with the top cash prize of £170,000.
