EUROMAT to Host Second Annual Gaming Summit in May

The European Gaming and Amusement Federation (EUROMAT) is an annual gaming event that specifically focuses on the land-based gaming industry. According to the creators of the summit, EUROMAT is the only industry event that is dedicated to the land-based gaming sector. This year marks the summit’s second annual event, which is being held in Barcelona, Spain, at the Hotel Majetic on the 26th of May 2016.

EUROMAT is the voice of the land-based gaming entertainment industry in Europe; a highly regulated and taxed industry sector that accounts for over 250,000 jobs across the continent. Established in 1979, the organization was created to represent private sector operators of gaming machines and the manufactures that supply these machines. According to EUROMAT, presently, it has 18 national member associations from 13 European countries and two observer members from Hungary and France.

The first addition of the EUROMAT Gaming summit was held in Amsterdam, last year, and was a big success. It attracted representatives from the gaming industry, as well as media and policy makers from across Europe. Drawing in industry professionals from the land-based gaming sector, the summit discusses major industry and commercial trends, as well as regulatory development with regulators, politicians, peers, the media, and other stakeholders. Those who take part have the chance to network, exchange knowledge and expertise and take advantage of business opportunities.

Some of the top sponsors and speakers that attended EUROMAT 2015 included CIRSA, Gauselmann, JVH Gaming, and Merkur Interactive.

200 delegates will get to hear about the latest trends at EUROMAT 2016

This year, 200 delegates will have the opportunity to hear about the latest challenges, opportunities and commercial trends from industry leaders. The main panel sessions this year will focus on how convergence effects Europe’s land based gaming industry, if player tracking helps to improve responsibility, and the role manufacturers or operators play in driving Europe’s gaming machine market.

In addition, for the first time, the summit will include a panel session of regulators. Some of these speakers include the European Commission’s lead policy official for gaming, Harrie Temmink, as well as regulators from several of Europe’s major markets such as Peer Naessens from Belgium and Carlos Hernandez Rivera from Spain.

In a press release, EUROMAT’s President, Eduardo Antoja, said that he’s pleased to welcome the event to his home city of Barcelona.

“The EUROMAT Gaming Summit is the only event dedicated to our industry. It’s a chance for industry peers to reflect, learn and prepare for changes in the market place or to regulation. Our programme for 2016 is rich with content and top-level speakers so we’re expecting lots of registrations!” Antoja said.
