Mayweather-McGregor Match Success for OpenBet

The OpenBet platform has reportedly processed a record number of bets during the recent, and highly anticipated, boxing match that took place between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather, on the 26th of August in Las Vegas. This was revealed by NYX Gaming Group, owners of the platform.

The fight between challenger mixed martial arts fighter McGregor and the undefeated boxing legend Floyd Mayweather, yielded an increase of 530% in total wager and 375% in the overall number of wagers over OpenBet's previous record, which was set back in 2015 when Mayweather fought Manny Pacquiao.

According to NYX, although 85% of wagers were placed on McGregor (the underdog), the total stakes were £1 million higher for Mayweather. An average bet of £20 was placed on McGregor, while the average bet for Mayweather was £120.

OpenBet executive vice-president, Keith O'Loughlin, said that with this record-number of wagers, OpenBet has once again proved that the platform it offers to operators can cover "very significant spikes of business."

"The resilience and scalability of OpenBet allows us to smash previous records with confidence and we continuously offer our customers a great experience 24x7 when it matters most." O'Loughlin stated.
